Photoshop World Conference Book Give-away

Hi friends. Well I just got back from Photoshop World in Las Vegas. What can I say, it was my third time attending. I went in 2006 when I was a noob wedding photographer and then again in 2007. Because nothing was really new in 2007 I skipped 2008 and 2009. This years conference was informative but I have noticed that as I have progressed as a photographer less of these conferences become relevant to me. Don’t get me wrong, I learned a few new cool tips and got a killer deal on some new software I may blog about one day. Overall it was a fun experience and it’s neat to see what people are doing with Photoshop.

So… Each Photoshop World we are given this huge 800+ page Workbook full of goodness. It contains the content from all of the classes at Photoshop World which range across many of the Adobe products as well as tips and tricks for shooting. It’s basically all of the slides that were shown and discussed. It’s just like going, except you are not sitting in a room with 100′s of people. You can only get this workbook at Photoshop World. I have noticed that some people put theirs on eBay to try to get some of their $$ back from the cost of attending. It is not cheap to go to Photoshop World.

I didn’t even open my book. I like to take my own notes in Evernote on my iPad so I can access them easier. Plus I didn’t want to lug around an 800+ page book all day.

Real Estate: Video Virtual Tour Del Rio Country Club Home

Last week I shot another video virtual tour for a Realtor friend of mine. I am getting better at this as I try different approaches to capturing the home. I am still working out the kinks but I do feel that the video gives you a pretty good feel for the home. Much better than those photo virtual tours with the distorted photos.

I am sitting in the Border Grill located inside of Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. I decided to attend Photoshop World this year as I had not been in a few years. This just so happens to be one of the only places where wifi internet does not cost an arm and a leg, however the food and drinks do…

On August 21st, I had the privilege of shooting a beautiful Yosemite wedding. Their wedding was held at the Evergreen Lodge located in the middle of the forest. I will have more photos up soon. The photo you see below took 10 minutes to upload on the free wifi at this restaurant.

Infant Photography B&W

My wife and I have been wanting to take some photos of our little boy naked before he gets to the age where its just creepy. Since I specialize in wedding photography, I don’t have much experience with taking photos of babies. Actually, the only real experience I have is with my own. So I have been using every chance I get to gain experience with a little one. I decided to go black and white with these photos because everything else around him was black and white, even the chair. I shot these photos in my living room using an ottoman and dark blanket. Lighting was very simple, something I could easily transport to any location. It took less than 15 minutes to get all of these shots.

Video from Sam & Kelsey’s Wedding

Simi Valley Wedding Photography – The photographer often makes it into much of the video footage during a wedding, however its not often that I end up seeing any of that footage. When I shot Sam & Kelsey’s wedding in Simi Valley there was a videographer there, Jacob Lewis, who was shooting with a Canon 5D MKII, the same camera I use to shoot photos with. His style seemed to be very artistic as I watched him float around the wedding all night grabbing shots. After the wedding, I had really wanted to get some of that footage. Kelsey’s father, who is also in video production, was able to edit some of the footage and get it to me. I have a few short rolls in the beginning, and yes I am wearing jeans, not something I do often. The wedding was a casual one if you notice the Groom and Groomsmen, so I fit in. Normally I look like a ninja all in black. Jacob captured some really nice video, I would have liked to see what he could have accomplished if he had another cameraman there with his vision. Enjoy.

Half Moon Bay Engagement Portraits with Calin and Bianca

What a great time I had taking pictures of Calin and Bianca. This was a last minute engagement session. I was already up in Half Moon Bay taking Gregg and Jen’s portraits. By the time that I met up with Calin and Bianca, it was almost 3pm and I already had a pretty good sun burn going on. We ended up just driving around looking for random spots to take pictures at and came up with some great shots. We concluded down the road a bit when the sun was starting to duck nicely behind the clouds on it’s way down.

It’s late (1am) but I wanted to get a few of my favorite shots up for both couples before I went to bed. Besides, Liam is still up making noise so I couldn’t get to bed even if I wanted to.

Thanks so much Calin and Bianca for making the last minute trip over to Half Moon Bay, I had a great time hanging out and taking pictures. I am excited for your wedding at The Reata in Oakdale!

Half Moon Bay Engagement Portraits with Gregg and Jen

I had a great time today with Gregg and Jen in Half Moon Bay. In case you didn’t know, Half Moon Bay is amazing and it could not have been any nicer of a day today. Gregg and Jen are actually having a Half Moon Bay wedding also. I was lucky enough to tag along as Gregg tasted beers to be served at their wedding. We both agree that the “blond ale” at Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. is a WIN!
