We Are Having A Baby – Maternity Session

A new chapter in my life will be happening soon. My wife and I will be having our first child sometime around the end of May. One thing I had been looking forward to during my wife’s pregnancy is getting to take photos of her. I love taking pictures of my wife. Whenever we end up taking photos we wind up doing it ourselves. This happens because we usually wake up and decide to take photos that day. We even took our own engagement photos. So after shooting Kevin and Caryn’s post wedding Bridal Session we decided to take some photos of our own.

Kevin and Caryn got married at Big Valley Grace Community Church in December. Although it was a fabulous day in the lives of Kevin and Caryn, it was also a very rainy day. Kevin is a nut farmer, so it only made sense that we would do another shoot a few months later when the blossoms were in full effect.

PMZ Realtor Daniel Del Real contacted me with a need to have a headshot done for a magazine who needed a current photo of him. They needed his photo in less than before the weekend and they told him this Thursday evening. Daniel was one of the groomsmen at Carlos and Katy’s wedding in Sutter Creek at Avio Vineyards. I have never enjoyed taking headshot photos for people but I knew Daniel would let me have some fun with a few ideas. I was able to take his photos Friday morning, edit them and have the final photos to him by 3pm the same day.

Sam & Kelsey Get Married at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley, CA

Sam and Kelsey got married at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley. The Country Club is placed outside of the city in a valley surrounded by canyons (hence the name, Lost Canyons). The Bride’s Mother and Aunt transformed the Country Club with home made decor. Even the arbor they were married under was built from scratch. So much attention to detail by the family. Kelsey’s mother should be doing this for a living. Sam and Kelsey are a perfect match, so alike that most would think they had grown up together. The Bridal party was so much fun which played a big part in how well the photos turned out. My best hopes and prayers go out to the two of you on your life together. I can’t wait to come back down to Simi Valley and visit!

Getting to know Anthony & Nicole

Anthony and Nicole described themselves to me as being a geek and a nerd. I was not sure which term referred to which but I know that I can relate. I am not sure if I consider myself a geek or a nerd. I would assume geek. Anyhow, Anthony and Nicole met years ago in high school while participating in the Science Olympiad. I can also relate to this because I took part in the competition during my school years as well. Though they said it would be hard to get a decent photo of the two of them it didn’t take but 15 minutes and they were used to me and my camera.

Joshua & Melissa’s Wedding in Turlock, CA

I must just be blessed to get to take pictures of the most relaxed brides ever. Melissa was so relaxed and on top of things that her calmness wore off on me. I am usually pretty relaxed at weddings but in the moment I can get a little tense trying to make sure I am capturing everything.

Though it was a little cold, it was a nice clear day in Turlock which made for a perfect day to take photos. One of my favorite things about being part of weddings is getting to know the story behind the couple. What is even more fun is when more details leak out during the best man toast. It was great getting to know Josh and Melissa while capturing them public display their love and commitment to each other in front of family and friends.

So I am pretty much the luckiest guy in the world for a couple of reasons. One of those reasons is that I get to take photos in some pretty amazing places such as Carmel but more importantly is that I have such fun people to take photos of in my life. Teagan and Amanda are two pretty amazing girls. When they were both in Jr. High School I served as an adult leader in the Jr. High Ministry at our Church. I got to know these two crazy girls pretty well during those years. Off and on through church over their high school years I got to watch them grow up into talented and intelligent Christian women. Though I would much prefer them stay young as to prevent me acknowledging that I am getting older I had the privilege of taking their Senior Portraits in Carmel!

From a photographers perspective I have never had a better experience with a venue then I did with Andrew and his staff at Casa Real. Casa Real Pleasanton Wedding – Colt & Ashley

Colt & Ashley have a story you don’t hear very often these days. They have known each other almost their entire lives. The parents of both the bride and groom are long time friends and everything just meshed so well between everybody. It truly was a perfect blend. Earlier in the year I took engagement portraits of Colt and Ashley and got to know them. We shot the portraits while they were taking a short vacation in Santa Cruz. Colt and Ashley currently live in Arizona, all of their family lives in the Central Valley.

I arrived a bit early at Classic Images Hair Design in Livermore where the girls were getting done up. After that I ran over to Casa Real to survey the scene. I had not been out to Casa Real yet and was amazed at how much attention to detail there was in that venue. The Mother of the Bride arrived shortly there after to set up her own decor which was nothing short of amazing. I did not ask if she did it for a living, if not then she should be.

Everything was very organized and the entire day seemed really relaxed. Though I know there were moments as there always are, you could tell that everybody there was just happy to be under the same roof celebrating this moment.

As a photographer, I experience wedding venues in a slightly different light then the rest of the people in attendance. Some venues are not very accommodating and often make the photographer feel like they are imposing on them constantly. Casa Real was nothing like this. Andrew and his staff were nothing short of amazing. Even the DJ made a remark to me about how much he enjoyed the venue. Colt, Ashley and their families really know how to throw a party. Great work!

Carlos & Katy’s Sutter Creek Wedding at Avio Vineyards

Carlos and Katy had nothing short of a remarkable day. Though it was a bit hot for my liking (103 degrees), fall colors were out in full force. The vineyards were full and ready for harvest. Avio Vineyards is this privately owned Vineyard located in Sutter Creek. The beautiful ceremony took place in the back yard behind the house which faced rolling hills full of grape vines. The front of the house was set up for the reception where a live band performed and DJ set the pace for some dancing as the evening went on.
