Q: Ok, so what is Documentary Style Wedding Photography?
A: You are probably familiar with the photographer that poses every shot, or how about the Photojournalist Style Photographer? The problem with posing every shot is that you take away from the magic of the moment. Some photographers need this control. Other Photographers are Photojournalist Style Photographers, which is really a nice way of saying that they are a pacifist with a camera. Your Photographer needs to be able to take control of a moment if needed.
My approach is to document everything that is happening as it unfolds. I will guide the two of you into moments that I think emphasize on your personalities and love for each other. Read the next answer which explains why I include an engagement session with my wedding packages.
Q: So Jerad, why do you include an Engagement Shoot for free?
A: It’s great you ask, I include an Engagement Session with my Wedding Packages because I want to get to know the two of you before your wedding day. I believe that you can make great images when you know your subjects. The Engagement Session also gives the two of you a good idea of how things will flow when I am taking your photos. I also think it is important to know the guy who will be following you around with a camera all day. At the very least, you will have some nice portraits to show off at your wedding and to enjoy in your home.
Q: Jerad, our budget is not that high, what do you suggest we do?
A: Fill out the form regardless! I want to meet with you and make sure you get the photography you deserve for your wedding day. If we can work it out and it ends up being me, then great! If not, then I will make sure you get a great photographer that fits your needs and your budget.
Q: Do you travel? Do Destination Weddings? Like BBQ?
A: Yes, yes and yes!
