Kalispell Canola Field Sunset Drive
The other evening my wife and I had finished feeding our kids and were discussing how nice it was out. My wife suggested I take a drive with a camera, so I did.
Summertime in the Flathead Valley brings bright yellow canola fields that look amazing when the sun is low. I went driving around not quite sure where I would end up. I found a beautiful Canola Field off of West Reserve Road that I drove alongside for a few miles until I came around the other side on a gravel road. At the peak of the gravel road before leading back into town I was at the corner of a Canola Field with the mountains off in the distance behind it. The sun was about to set behind the mountains. This was my spot!
I had my Sony a7R IV and Sony a6600 with me and a couple of lenses. I ended up using the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM lens and the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM lens for these photos. I played around with camera settings to get different looks and depth of field.
It has been a while since I have been able to venture out and take photos for the pure enjoyment of using my camera. Montana has so much to explore and capture. I have been tossing around the idea of starting a photo blog as a way to get myself out more and use my camera.
I hope you enjoy these Canola Field Sunset photos. Let me know in the comment box which one was your favorite.
