Mo-Photo Walk

photogI am excited to announce something I have wanted to organize for quite some time now. A Photo Walk and Photoshop training in Modesto. The Photo Walk will take place in Downtown Modesto on the third Thursday of August (Aug. 20th) which just happens to be the night of the monthly Art Walk in Downtown Modesto. This will provide extra opportunities for photos due to the extra traffic that will be down town. For those who are interested in Photoshop or Lightroom, I will edit some photos live at The State Theater on their big cinema screen!

What is a Photo Walk? It’s a social photography event where photographers or photography enthusiasts get together, usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town, to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers.

Update! MoPhoto Walk Website is Live!

Who should come? Anybody who has a camera, regardless of size. If you love taking photos, we want to hang out with you. There will be people who shoot photos for a living, some who want to shoot photos for a living and others who just enjoy taking pictures. This is an all ages and level of experience event. The nice thing about this event is that we can all learn from each other. Experienced Photographers who love answering questions will be there to help newer Photographers.

Here is how the evening will play out:

We will all meet in front of the Camera Center at 7pm. We will start there, roaming around Downtown Modesto taking photos and enjoying the company of other photographers. We will do this for about 2 hours. This will allow for us to have the chance to take some photos while there is ambient light left in the day and also to take photos once the sun is long gone.

At 9pm we will gather at The State Theater on J Street where I will show some basic Photoshop and Lightroom tips and tricks on a the cinema screen. Some of the topics I will cover are listed below. Myself, as well as other photographers will be there to answer questions about anything photography related. The last half hour of the evening will be for networking and discussion.

Photoshop and Lightroom Training Topics:
– Using Camera RAW in Photoshop
– Making your Photos POP! in Photoshop
– Tips for Exporting your Photos in Photoshop
– Basic Lightroom 101

Date: August 20th, 2009
Meeting Place: Camera Center 1220 J St. Modesto
Time: 7pm-10pm

If this Photo Walk goes well we will schedule more in the future in different locations around the Valley. The goal of this Photo Walk is to hang out and have fun while learning from each other.

This sounds like great fun to not only to get out and shoot, but also to learn with others. Thanks for organizing something like this Jerad!

Yes, the idea has been tossed around by many so I just decided to do it. I’m excited to hang with everybody and take photos. This event is all about connecting with people and sharing knowledge.

What a great idea, Jerad! It almost compels me to buy a decent camera and join you guys for the night! Way to step out and do it. God bless.
