Attending the NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway has been on my list of things to do for years. This year I was able to take my Father for his 65th birthday as well as my brothers. It was amazing. Part of my enjoyment of events such as these is having my camera with me. Because I had not been to an event like this nor have I been able to spend much time with my brothers and dad lately, I decided to try the Club Nitro package which gets us up close and personal with the action. As a Photographer, I wish I was even closer, but with a zoom lens I was able to get some decent shots as if I was up close.
I had brought my iPad Mini with me and the SD Card to Apple Lightening adapter so I could load images right from my SD card into my iPad for editing and posting to the web. I like to take photos and share them right away. With my iPad Mini, that connector and the Snapseed app installed, I can accomplish this quickly which the event is still happening.
Here are some of my favorite shots. All of these shots came from either the fenced in area on ground level or from inside of the Club Nitro Suite on the second floor. The windows had water spots on them so it degraded the clarity of the image a bit. Regardless, I was still happy with the outcome.
Gear Used: Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70-200mm 2.8L II. No flash, all available light.
