Photoshop World Conference Book Give-away

Hi friends. Well I just got back from Photoshop World in Las Vegas. What can I say, it was my third time attending. I went in 2006 when I was a noob wedding photographer and then again in 2007. Because nothing was really new in 2007 I skipped 2008 and 2009. This years conference was informative but I have noticed that as I have progressed as a photographer less of these conferences become relevant to me. Don’t get me wrong, I learned a few new cool tips and got a killer deal on some new software I may blog about one day. Overall it was a fun experience and it’s neat to see what people are doing with Photoshop.

So… Each Photoshop World we are given this huge 800+ page Workbook full of goodness. It contains the content from all of the classes at Photoshop World which range across many of the Adobe products as well as tips and tricks for shooting. It’s basically all of the slides that were shown and discussed. It’s just like going, except you are not sitting in a room with 100’s of people. You can only get this workbook at Photoshop World. I have noticed that some people put theirs on eBay to try to get some of their $$ back from the cost of attending. It is not cheap to go to Photoshop World.

I didn’t even open my book. I like to take my own notes in Evernote on my iPad so I can access them easier. Plus I didn’t want to lug around an 800+ page book all day.

The Give-away
I am going to give away my Photoshop World 2010 Workbook to some lucky person who completes the following.

#1 – Retweet this blog post using the Retweet button.
#2 – Click the Facebook Like button.
#3 – Post a comment in the comment box explaining why you think you should get the workbook. Include your Twitter name and/or Facebook profile link at the end of your entry.

My wife and I will choose the winner based on the completion of the top #3 items and after reading the stories.

If you don’t care about the book, Retweet and Facebook Like anyway, so your friends can see it. I would appreciate that.

This contest will last until September 7th. Feel free to Retweet or Facebook Like more than once. If you don’t have Twitter or Facebook or only have one of the two then post to what you have. The book will be delivered to the winner via. USPS Mail.

I think you should pick me because I learned PS almost 9 years ago and haven’t had it on my computer since 2006. I just got CS5 and it seems so different from what I remember it and need to relearn all of it. I wanted to start using it again to start digital scrapbooking. Thanks for considering me for the give-a-way and good luck to you and your family.

I am interested in the photshop book manual for several reasons.

First off, I already have filming experience working with television cameras, and doing video editing through final cut pro, premiere pro, and after effects. That is where my background is. Most recently I have become more interested in photography. I enjoy the creativity that is allowed when filming a video and I also want to extend that now into still photography.

One of my biggest reasons behind being interested in photography is that I am going to be joining the Air Force and one of the benefits of the air force is the opportunity to travel a lot. My goal is to improve myself in the area of photography enough that I can document all my trips and experiences while in the military so that I have it to look back on.

I am vaguely familiar with photoshop when it comes to basic editing and working with graphics, but I am very interested in getting to know the program more. I currently have the CS4 Master Collection but am looking at upgrading to CS5.

I believe this book would help supply me with the tools I need to better understand the program and to help me in my overall journey of learning photography.

I should totally win this cause I’m a Photoshop Noob and have been for far too long. You know that though, and are just too nice to tell me. I’d like to take my photography to another level but don’t have the money to do cool things like go to Vegas like you. Maybe I could even develop awesome ninja photo skills just like Jerad Hill does.

Oh and I’m a good friend who always Shares your stuff on facebook and twitter without cool bribes like this book.

Hey Jerad!

Although I am familiar with Photoshop already, there is always something new to learn, for instance, I recently just learned about using Highpass + Overlay layers or Unsharpen Mask to create super sharp images. Most of my experience with Photoshop is actually for web graphics and I am just now really getting into the actual photo manipulation since I’ve started photography. I feel that I would be a good candidate to receive this awesome book as I know enough to be able to fully grasp all that it has to offer within the bindings, but not know enough that I will actually learn from it. I also noticed that it has some tips and information about setting up a photo shoot, equipment and such. This would be GREAT for me! I’ve only been photographing since April and you’ve seen some of my work, I’m yearning to learn more each day!

It’s almost addicting actually…
So please choose me! 🙂 I’m hoping to someday be in the business of photography as a supplement to my existing career (if not full time down the road) and to be able to finally afford a trip for my kids to Disneyland! 🙂

I am so needing this book! After being disabled for the past ten years I am forced to find extra income. Between my camera and I along with Photoshop this book might just help make the difference. Thanks for considering me.

Hi Jared and Mrs. Hill,

I have been taking pictures since I was 13 yrs old. My father had his own darkroom in the house, so I was able to develop and print all my black & white photos.

Fast forward 30 years and to digital camera age and the Photoshop darkroom. I have not had any formal training in Photoshop and want to learn how to do all the cool techniques that are available to enhance my photos like I did when I had a darkroom.

Thank you for considering me!

Andrea

Hey Jerad! I’m super late… so there’s one reason NOT to choose me I suppose 🙂

I would love to glean all the knowledge I can from this book, after teaching myself on Photoshop 6 I was amazed with CS4, and since then I’ve taken photoshop classes that give me projects to work on and new skills to learn, but there is so much more to Photoshop to learn and take advantage of to both make the cleanest images possible, and get really creative with them. I also have the entire Creative Suite 4 (well, the student edition) and I’m slowly learning how the different elements can work together, as far as web design, and other media design in general. Sounds like this book would help shed light to this.

ALSO, If I can get myself to Photoshop World next year, I could be like you and share my book with someone who needs it. So it’s perfect!

Thanks again Jerad!
